What Is Veterans Court?
The Harnett County Veterans Treatment Court is dedicated to serving those who served. The VTC is an 18-24 month treatment and rehabilitation diversion program made specifically for veterans facing trouble with the law, while also facing mental health and substance abuse disorders. The goal of the VTC is to help justice-involved veterans obtain the tools and support they need to successfully reintegrate into society, as well as tools to take with them after graduating to continue to lead productive, stable, healthy lives. Our help goes beyond treatment and thanks to the wonderful committed people of the community, we also connect veterans with resources needed for employment, housing, schooling, job training, and more. We believe no veteran should be left behind.

Q: "I do not live in Harnett county. Can I still apply for the court?
A: Yes. The Harnett County Veterans Treatment Court is the only regional VTC in the state. We have veterans that come from as far as Gaston county. Often, the veteran will need to arrange for their own transportation, but we may be able to help in nearby areas.

Q: "Can I submit an application on behalf of my loved one?"
A: You absolutely can, but the person in need of help will have to agree as well.

Q: "How do I apply"
A: There are a few ways you can apply. You can use the "Apply here" button at the top of the website and submit it all online. You can download the application in a PDF format, then send a completed copy to the email on the PDF, and finally you can call and apply over the phone.

Q: "I've already applied and been approved- how long do I have to wait?"
A: You can only be ordered in as fast as your court date arrives. The Judge presiding over your case, DA prosecuting your case, your attorney, and anyone else involved must all agree to the order.
